North East Areas Cock O' the North Series
2010 Rules

The series consists of a series of events as designated on the North East Area fixtures list.

Events will normally consist of one day events ( saturday or sunday) with three races, two to count.

Clubs may host 2 day events with races on saturday and sunday - the number of races (and arrangements for discards) to be indicated in the notice of race.

Scoring will be means of a helms position in each event. Individual race scores are not counted.

Five event scores are necessary for a series result and any series ties will be broken using the rule relating to the positions in the last event that both participants competed in.

Some events are designated as joint events as requested at the NE Area AGM and results will be extracted for participating N.E Area helms and positions added to the series results.

Participating helms must be members of the Enterprise Association and all participating boats should hold a valid measurement certificate.

Events will be run under the sailing instructions of the host club and will incorporate any local instructions for example with regard to starting arrangements and timings, penalties, breaking ties etc.

Clubs should produce a written report of the event ( with photographs if possible) and a complete list of participants, boat numbers and the name of the helms home club to be forwarded to the Area Chairman Dave Staniforth by e mail or snail mail as soon as possible after the event for publication on the website and in the class diary.

A report should be forwarded directly by the club to Yachts and Yachting with a list of the top six helms for publication by the tuesday following the event. ( This report and the area report can be the same but Yand Y only want top six places)

Scores will be published on the class website for all events and the final series positions calculated from this information.

Prizes for individual events are the responsibility of the hosting club and any sponsor that they may have.

There is an additional trophy provided by the Association for the top helm at the 2010 NE Area Championships

There is a Cock O'North  trophy for the winning helm in the overall series and prizes for the runners up ( the number of prizes is dependent on the number of qualifying helms). There will be crew prizes.
