It is with great sadness that I have to report the untimely death of Richard Estaugh who passed away on Saturday April 11, 2009.
Richard was a very successful national and world championship winner who was greatly admired for his ability to sail both quickly and fairly. Many will have met Richard through Speed Sails, the business that he had run for many years. We have lost a truly unique sailor who was an inspiration to all his many friends and admirers. He has gone but he will not be forgotten. We offer our sincere condolences to his family, and our thoughts will be with them at this very sad time.

Speed Sails has issued a statement “We have all lost a great friend and our thoughts are especially with his family at this time.” Out of respect for Richard’s wishes his family have requested that people don’t send flowers but hope they will consider making a donation to sail4cancer or the RNLI instead.
