2009 Nationals at Brixham Final Results

2009 Enterprise National Championship Sponsored by Noble Marine Insurance

Sailed under the burgee of Brixham Yacht Club 1 – 7 August

Congratulations to Nick Craig and his sister Sheena who regain the Enterprise National Championship crown, and to the first lady helm Jane Scutt crewed by husband Nick.

The final day of the Championships was glorious for spectators but not so good for the fleet that were looking forward to a good breeze. Blue skies and 10 – 12 knots of wind were the conditions when the competitors left the slip for the final time. Chris Coote, assistant Race Officer reported that the first race of the day was triangular with the wind disappearing to 2 – 3 knots which meant that this race was finished after the first lap.

Second Race was an Olympic triangle and was set after a sea breeze filled in. There was a 180 degrees wind shift from the first race. This Olympic course started in 10 knots then went down to 5 knots.

Throughout the week the committee boat had Roger Donaldson, a visiting Assistant Race Officer who was holidaying from Felixstowe Ferry. During the week the Enterprise Association photographer, Janice Bottomley, was taking pictures (the link can be found on the Association Website) and a professional photographer from Fotoboat was on the water today (Friday)(www.fotoboat.com) The week was concluded by a sit down evening meal in Brixham Yacht Club followed by Prize giving.

The prizes were presented to the competitors by Tony Bond, Assistant Commodore and announced by Peter Dolling, Commodore Enterprise Association, assisted by his wife Elaine and Vice Commodore Paul Young. The winner Nick Craig made a speech and thanked Brixham Yacht Club for an excellent week. The Fleet had enjoyed Commodore’s Supper, a BBQ, Disco and Fancy Dress, Prize giving 2 Course meal and early morning breakfast. Peter and Nick thanked the bar and galley staff (excellent food Chefs’), beach master, in fact everyone involved in the Championship were thanked for making it such an enjoyable and successful week and making it possible to complete the 9 planned Races.
