Day 3 – The Championship is now running to schedule. Race 4 & 5 were sailed in a Force 3 - 4 building to 4 – 5 westerly, gusting to 6. Race 4 was a windward/ leeward course – sea choppy but in general, conditions manageable in a good 4. Race 5 was an Olympic triangular course. Sea state lumpy due to incoming tide and wind increasing to Force 5 and gusting. Some competitors retired, drawn to the comfort of ELYC. The rescue team were great, kept very busy with Enterprises in submarine mode. Notable members at the top of the fleet were seen to be tacking around the wing mark in preference to the gybe. Nick Craig is back into ‘his mould’, winning Race 4 and 5. Wednesday, Day 4 is lay day, time for the fleet to re-group and prepare for the remaining 4 races. Last night was Stag-night for our ‘renowned’ Salty, so guess the lay day will be put to good use. The Enterprise Class new Fly Away Jib Poles were put to the test – they really do ‘Fly’, snap and land on the deck causing considerable drop in position for one competitor!! The remaining Fly Away Jib Poles were good and resilient to the conditions. An excellent day’s sailing for the Enterprise Fleet.
